Les Coches

Les Coches Ski Resort Guide

Les Coches ski resort is a modern village built in a traditional Savoyarde style. This design choice means the resort has an Alpine ski village atmosphere, but boasts all modern amenities and provides everything needed for an enjoyable ski holiday.

Sitting at an altitude of 1450m, Les Coches is neighboured by the village of Montchavin at 1250m. Often counted as one resort, Montchavin Les Coches is a relaxed town with a working farm, chapel and plenty of wood and stone clad chalet accommodation. It is also part of the larger La Plagne ski resort area which counts up to 10 nearby villages within it.

Les Coches is a friendly and welcoming resort with a relaxing atmosphere ideally suited to families. The village has been awarded the Famile Plus Label meaning it caters extensively for families and has many unique features specifically for children including a kids ski garden, toboggan run and its own ski school and nursery clubs. The car-free centre of Les Coches also provides added security for families and young children.

There are a range of shops and restaurants throughout Les Coches and Montchavin, plus a selection of bars and night spots. The nightlife here is much quieter than in larger resorts though and is better suited families and small groups or couples. Alternate activities include an ice rink, cinema, wellbeing centre & swimming pool, plus evening snowshoe hikes and dog sleigh rides. La Plagne’s Olympic bobsleigh run is also accessible by shuttle bus.

Skiing in Les Coches

As well as its beginner and nursery slopes, Les Coches has a number of pretty tree-lined pistes around the village. The sheltered local runs are cut through forests and provide relatively easy slopes to build confidence on, or just a relaxing way to get back to resort at the end of the day. Les Coches own slopes can also be a good spot to seek shelter in snowstorms.

As part of the larger La Plagne ski resort, Les Coches is also part of the Paradiski area which provides access over 400km of pistes within one of the worlds largest ski areas. Anyone except complete beginners will want to head out into this wider ski area and explore the vast array of terrain it provides. Les Coches provides a convenient base from which to access the Paradiski area as it is very close to the Vanoise Express cable car.

Just one chairlift and one blue run away from Les Coches is the Vanoise Express cable car. This ultra-modern lift features a two-level panoramic cabin and can carry 4000 skiers & snowboarders per hour. Providing easy access to the interconnected ski areas of Les Arcs and La Plagne, the worlds largest cable car is much easier to get to from Les Coches than from many of La Plagne’s other satellite villages.

The Paradiski area offers something for every ability and every taste. The lift system is fast and modern, and the high altitude coupled with modern artificial snow systems, guarantees top-quality snow conditions throughout the winter.

Easy to use comparison website for ski transfers.

Easy to use. Plenty of quotes. Can add extra flight details in the comments box. This was required due to our group arriving on two different planes. Comments were not shown at the summary stage before paying. When I went back a page to check them they had disappeared so I had to input the details again.
